The art of saying no

We've been discussing our disengagement letter via email, and it's gone through five revisions. Today I spent about 90 minutes on edit/rewrite of the disengagement letter, thank-you letter, and rationale memo. I was surprised that it took me so long, because they all seemed fairly complete at first glance. I opened Bryan Garner's "The Redbook" and double-checked for a technical edit. I like formatting; when MS Word cooperates it's meditative. So as I was checking style, I also thought about what might be missing from our submission. I realized that we needed to clarify the pros for taking the client as well as clarify our legal duty to the potential client and to our firm. I hope Jeff and Susan agree to my suggestions, but if not, the existing submission is fine.
